As a Salesforce Consulting Partner, we feel it is vital to be in a state of continuous learning about what we do, and how Salesforce changes over time. Thankfully, Salesforce make this quite easy via their learning platform, Trailhead. Trailhead is a module-based learning platform where users can sign up and complete a variety of badges to help them learn more about Salesforce. Trailhead offers well over a thousand badges covering hundreds of topics. In demonstrating the importance of ongoing learning, staff here at Time Technology have collectively completed more than 1,700 badges on Trailhead (this is not counting Superbadges and Salesforce Certifications).
For this post, we would like to share with you six of the badges that we think could benefit you most in your work within the Nonprofit sector, helping you make the most out of your use of Salesforce. So, with that said, let’s get into our list.
Our List of Trailhead Badges You Should Consider Completing
For the purposes of this post, we have six badges we think you should consider completing to help you grow in your knowledge of Salesforce as a Nonprofit professional using the product.
Note: When considering your learning objectives, it is important that you do so knowing which Salesforce products your Nonprofit has implemented. Trailhead modules may focus on the Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP), Nonprofit Cloud (NPC) or both. If you are unsure, please contact your Salesforce Administrator or feel free to get in touch with us.
This module serves as a good introduction to the Nonprofit Success Pack (otherwise known as NPSP). In it, you will learn a little bit more about NPSP, what it is and what it does. This module also covers the important topic of data management within NPSP.
This module focuses on stakeholder management within NPSP. For the purposes of this badge, stakeholders are Contacts, Households, Organisations, Relationships and Affiliations. In this module, you will get a chance to learn more about how NPSP uses these types of records and how they all relate to each other within Salesforce.
Communications to stakeholders is a hugely important area within the Nonprofit space. Many Nonprofits will rely on tools like Mailchimp or CampaignMonitor to handle bulk email communications to stakeholders. But what about singular email interactions? Well, it is entirely possible to send emails like this using Salesforce. This module will cover how you can do this, along with how you can send emails to groups such as Campaign Members or via List Views. This module covers email management for NPSP.
For most Nonprofits, KPI’s form a significant part of what they use Salesforce for. With that in mind, reporting on the data you store in Salesforce is of major importance. This module covers the tools you have at your fingertips in Salesforce to help you not only understand the data you capture, but the story that data tells you.
This module is more basic than the others. Its purpose is to introduce you to Salesforce from a Nonprofit context. This module covers the products and features available for Nonprofits using Salesforce. Please do be aware that this module is mainly focused on Nonprofit Cloud. If you are using NPSP, it is still relevant, but there will be differences between what is shown in this module, and what you have available to use in Salesforce.
The Nonprofit space for Salesforce is littered with a ton of helpful resources to allow you to learn more about what Salesforce can do for Nonprofits. This module gives you a quick bit of insight into the various resources available to you to help you learn more.
These modules cover a range of topics, from basic introductions to Salesforce for Nonprofits to more advanced data management and reporting techniques focused more specifically on NPSP.
